Localization

If you are interested in translating Human Error Co-op to your language, here's how you can get started.

First go to the he_coop folder under SourceMods and then to he_coop\resource. You should find the english localization file he_coop_english.txt. Make a copy of it and rename to your language, for example, he_coop_finnish.txt. If you open it with Notepad or other program, you can see the that there's two strings for each entry, the token and the localized text. So you simply edit localized text for each entry.

With some objectives you have to make sure they are not too long, some of them have maximum character length to beging with. If you make the Objectives strings (starting with the entry HLSS_Objectives) too long, they text will clip with the background box. The lines meant for the VGUI (Character Selection VGUI and Combine Interface VGUI) support line breaks, so use you can use \n on actual line break if there's enough vertical space. The Olivia lines were coded to use / as the line break, so remember to keep those in.

Remember to test all the lines to make sure they are not too long for their boxes and that they show up alright. For easier testing of Traitor lines, for example, you can start your own server, and writing hlss_traitormode_players_needed 1 in the console (Console Commands). If you don't normally use Steam with your own language, changing the language of Steam happens from Settings -> Interface -> Select language you wish Steam to use. It will require you to restart Steam.
