HLSS Specific Console Commands

Player commands

By "player commands" is meant commands that can be bound in Options.

hlss_vote_yes: Vote yes to marking someone as Hostile or Friend, changing the level or mode, or select yes to revealing yourself. Bound by default to: F1

hlss_vote_no: Vote no to marking someone as Hostile or Friend, changing the level or mode, or select no to revealing yourself. Bound by default to: F2

start_mode_vote: Start a vote to change the director's mode from Traitor Mode to Alyx Mode or vice versa. Voting can only hapen during the first minute of the round. You can't start the vote menu if any other vote is in progress. (This will be enabled in Beta 1.0.6 or later versions.) Bound by default to: F3

start_map_vote: Start a vote to change the map. It will give the player a list of all the maps (from mapcycle.txt). Voting is enabled only during the first minute of the round. You can't start the vote menu if any other vote is in progress. (This will be enabled in Beta 1.0.6 or later versions.) Bound by default to: F4

olivia: If Olivia has spawned, this is the key you have to press while pointing at the model with the glow effect and Olivia text on it. Bound by default to: v

reveal: As a Traitor you can Reveal yourself to be the Traitor, which will then stop the Hostiles from attacking. It will also spawn an Elite Squad to attack you, and when you respawn you will no longer get the Emp Tool. You cannot reveal yourself while you are dead and there's a dropship. Pressing the key will start the "vote menu", asking you if you are sure that you want to Reveal yourself. Bound by default to: j

Server side

hlss_traitormode_players_needed: Set the number of players needed for a Traitor be selected. Useful for playtesting Traitor specific features such as hacking and Combine shields. Default: 3

hlss_traitormode_combine_wins_time: Time in which the Non-Traitor players win if the Main Frame or Advisor Pod is not currently under attack. Default: 12 (minutes)

hlss_traitormode_main_frame_damage_penalty: If the Main Frame or Advisor Pod gets damaged, how much extra should it take for the round to end, if the time left is zero. Default: 2

hlss_doug_spawn_probability: Probability x/100 for Dog to spawn instead of Alyx if the map supports to spawn either one of them. If only Dog is enabled, then it's the probability for Dog to spawn. If the map has enabled them to spawn the same round, it's the probability for Dog to spawn. Alyx has the same probability spawn, unless Dog doesn't spawn, in which case she will always spawn. Default: 70

hlss_main_frame_health: How much each Main Frame has Health. Round must be restarted for the console command to take effect. Default: 2500

hlss_advisor_pod_health: How much each Advisor Pod has health. Round must be restarted for the console command to take effect. Default: 2500

hlss_force_alyx_mode: Force Alyx Mode on Traitor Mode maps that support it (currently only Backbone). Players can also vote this to be set on by starting a vote. Note: This console command will be included in Beta 1.0.6 and later versions.

hlss_allow_mode_vote: Does this server allow players to vote mode change from Traitor Mode to Alyx Mode and back. Defaukt: 1 (Yes)

hlss_allow_map_vote: Does this server allow players to vote map change. The map list is taken from mapcycle.txt. Default: 1 (Yes)

hlss_always_give_noah_smg1_grenade: Should Noah always get a SMG1 Grenade or only during the first two minutes? Default: 1 (Yes)

hlss_only_team_leader_can_command: Only Team Leader can command squads. Default: 1 (Yes)

hlss_hats: Are hats enabled? Default: 0 (No)

Client side

cl_hlss_continuous_warning_sound: If the player is closer than this to the Main Frame or Advisor Pod that is under attack, the warning sound should stop. Use zero to disable continuous warning sounds completely. Default: 512

cl_hlss_first_time_traitor_player: Show the first time Traitor player message. This is set to zero by the server when the player finishes a round as a Traitor. Default: 1 (Yes)

cl_ge_glowscale: Scale of the L4D glow effect on entities. Default: 0.1

cl_fp_ragdoll: Allow first person ragdolls? Default: 1 (Yes)

hlss_olivia_effects: Are Olivia effects enabled? Default: 1 (Yes)
